The first edition of Carassia Magnums are award winners at CSWWC

2019. July 15.

For three years now, the Carassia sparkling wines prove that the Crişana area is the sparkling terroir of Romania. This was confirmed by The Rising Star World Champion award in 2018. Moreover, this year, the Carassia sparkling wines win a gold and two silver medals.

At the previous edition of CSWWC, Carastelec Winery received the most important recognition, besides the gold medal for Carassia Blanc de Blancs: the Rising Star World Champion at the Championships Dinner in London. The trophy was handed by Tom Stevenson to our winemaker Csaba Bereczki, for the remarkable evolution and potential of our sparkling wines. This trophy is not just an honor, it is an assumed responsibility.

The sparkling wines sent this year to CSWWC are made of base wines of the 2015 harvest and three out of four samples are magnum bottles, in which maturation is slower and wine evolution is different from the regular 750 ml bottles.

This year, the Carassia Classic Brut Magnum NV cuvée received the gold medal and the Carassia Blanc Blanc Magnum NV the silver medal. All three magnums have been matured for two and a half years in magnum bottles and will be available in limited editions this autumn.

Besides the first edition of magnums, we sent again the Carassia Classic Brut of 750 ml for evaluation, a bronze medal winner last year; this year, it was rated with a score that brought us the second silver medal.

So as to we have achieved the best presence so far in the only competition dedicated exclusively to sparkling wines, with a jury made up of three of the most appreciated experts in the effervescent wine world - Tom Stevenson, Essi Avellan MV and Markus Gyorgy. Carassia Rosé Brut Magnum received a bronze medal.

We are proud that our Carassia sparkling wines are more and more complex and beautiful from year to year and we still want to remain worthy of our consumers.

The results of the CSWWC 2019:

1. Gold Carassia NV Classic Brut Magnum

2. Silver Carassia NV Blanc de Blancs Magnum

3. Silver Carassia NV Classic Brut
